A Fascinating Nite!

What good is a birthday without a party?

Well, we decided to take it quite a few steps further...
"I want hats, fascinator hats!" she screamed.
And this is what began the movement towards not only a night on the town but also custom designs for themed hats and well, of course, shoes!

Why not try Butterflies, Unicorns & Ice Cream for that matter...

https://www.instagram.com/p/BHYaElYB_XV/?taken-by=rednckdebutante&hl=en

"I'm not spending a ridiculous amount of money on shoes,
I'll just pop some tags, in good old Red New Chic Knowledge Debutante style, and make my OWN!"

Of course, typical fashionistas would turn their noses up to worn shoes but when you think about it... when in the heck would you wear these babies again???

It's amazing how creative you get when you think about something long enough. Things pretty much just show up in your path. And you find yourself saying things like "If I were Ice Cream this would totally go with my theme" or "Only a unicorn could pull this off!"
I mean honestly, a unicorn.
Think about how many shades of awesome a unicorn could be and then sprinkle glitter on top of that. Feathers, pastels and don't forget the fabulous fascinator WITH ears!
We didn't leave out the horn either. The heel/ horn(s) of the shoes became a canvas of pure glittery fairy-tale magic with every step.
Check out the heels pictured above and be envious!

Yaaaaas! Cheers to that!

We honestly had no idea what we were stepping into.
A creative night filled with music, old fashioned cocktails and quite a receptive crowd towards our dressed up shenanigans.
"Is this for the Kentucky Derby? Who are you? What a pretty hat you have! Oh those shoes!"

Of course there was a theme to our evening and it fell somewhere between Lisa Frank and the roaring 1920's. No rhyme or reason, just a birthday girl's wish to dress up with pastels, glitter and to make it stylish.
We did quickly discover that fascinators are somewhat of a sought after, lost art.
How lucky for us that we are creative!

I'm sure some are aware that they are "cute hats" but honestly what are they appropriate for besides garden weddings and of course The Kentucky Derby?
And why do they have to be either cute and dainty or straight up ridiculous?

Well, let's see...

"The history of head-wear is spangled with frivolity. During the reign of Louis XVI, some women of the French court embellished their elaborate, sky-high coiffures with plumes and sprays of flowers, while others drew stares of amazement their poufs au sentiment, a display of cherished memorabilia nestled in their bouffant hair...During the 1920's, American flappers wore head bands to give their cropped hair a sleek silhouette (so it wouldn't "flop" when they danced); for extra flair they decorated the bands with dangling brooches or bobbing feathers."
Of course there are always the star studded actresses from the past with their boas and amazing hair dos. We all admire their glitz and glamour.
So why not make a girlfriend's birthday a night to remember? She was definitely the center of attention!

Not to mention the fact that she went as Ice Cream! Who doesn't love Ice Cream???

Happy Birthday to our dear friend!

Love,

Bianca xoxo

Hello savvy debutantes,

I've decided to touch on the seasonal Pantone today.
What a brilliant color; this emerald green for the 2013 season! And as Dorothy's witches become more humanized through the glitz and glamour of Hollywood why not reexamine this trendy hue?

Let's think about green and what it symbolizes... money, power, health, earth and the skin tone of one evil witch. Everything around the Emerald city is adorned in the green tones yet this witch is permanently emerald and feared by all. This color by far has a power all its own, how delightful!

I managed to take it upon myself to muster up the courage to abandon my typical red toenails and graced my little piggies with a metallic emerald green. Yes, you heard me. I decided to go green for the sake of the trend. And as I gazed down at my designer nails all I could think was:

“How far will I travel down that yellow brick road? Oh! And what ever shall I wear??”

Emerald is a beautiful tone but without its color compliment red it wouldn't be as extraordinary. Picture the field of poppies surrounding the emerald city. What a remarkable contrast of red to green; a vivid picture and so much depth. All in the name of color!

Colors affect us on a daily basis and what we chose to wear each day really does place emphasis on our mood. The next time you are faced with a dreary day try tossing an emerald scarf around your neck or better yet a scarlet one. Not only will it be noticed, but you will feel more sophisticated. We all need that extra something sometimes. Try it, I bet you will feel enthused. If you allow yourself to take in the colors around you, you will have a better understanding of your world. And honestly, your world is what you make of it. so why not make it brilliant?!

I’m attempting to keep this in mind as I work on the concepts of our scarves and other projects. If something has a design that displays brilliant color along with a dash of nostalgia we have achieved a masterpiece. A token of my creative madness that contributes to even one individual’s everyday life is part of my mark that I plan to leave on this world.
So, thank you Dorothy for skipping down that yellow bricked road in dazzling Technicolor, your emerald city has delighted Hollywood and motivated me to both dream and create in vivid hues.

Always inspired,

Scarlette

Well, hello there!
I bet you have been wondering where the crazy ladies have been to huh? That's easy, the beach! In all honesty we retreated to an amazing fantastical place to better grasp our neglected creative side.
So, as we pick up where we left off there is just so much to tell you about!
First of all we have been working on many unique designs for various causes and we have found that there has not been a large audience to our work because we haven't really placed it all out there.
The decision has been made to make more of an effort to spread the creative love so here it goes.
RND has joing Zazzle and added some of our creative graphics. Please check out our store as we we plan to continue to add amazing little tidbits of our original works and cleaver creations.

'To The Dogs'

We are so excited to encourage Red NCK Debutante fans to support our latest endeavor...

'To the Dogs' has been something that we have been preparing to launch and its just getting started!

We have decided to feature adoptable animals in some of our pieces and the "New Chic Knowledge" will be about each new furry friend and all of his/her assets.
Our first projects are going to feature furry friends from "Special Pals" and we encourage everyone to check out their website:
http://specialpalshouston.org/
We will give the 1st jewelry set designed with the featured shelter animal to the proud new adoptive owner. What a great keepsake to have of a new furry friend!

As we begin this creative journey we would like to keep in mind that there are so many animals out there in need of "forever homes". If you have a specific breed in mind I can promise you there is a rescue group out there with one that is perfect for you.

Keep in mind that before you settle on a breed because they are "fashionably small" or just have that "cute face" doesn't mean they are for you. Remember, each animal comes with its own set of needs and health issues. Do the right amount of research before you make up your mind. You may be surprised why an animal is the perfect fit or quickly becomes the biggest mistake ever.
When you adopt an animal you are saving a life. There are so many pure bred homeless pets out there it is shocking. The common reason is that there are so many people out there who fail to do the proper research before they take on the responsibility of a pet. It is truly a dependent relationship and you, the responsible owner, take on this little furry life to have and to hold for potentially the next 12-15 years. And how many people can you think of on one hand who are commitment phobics?

Did you know that many rescue organizations have "foster" homes for available animals and you can find out all kinds of information about your potential companion?
Many foster homes work with homeless or abused animals and prepare them for a "forever home". That means that when it is your turn to be his/her owner you will be given information on her disposition, potty training, health and even favorite food and treats.

Take a moment and think about all of the potential that a new pet has to make your life that much more enjoyable. I can honestly say I have a handsome pug that I rescued and we will never look back. He is home sweet home forever!

As I promised, I have been doing lots of research on RND opportunities and I am happy to announce that Red NCK Debutante will be at The Gabriel Institute's "4 Paws Dog Walk & Fun Fest"!
It is taking place on Oct 22, 2011 at City Centre.
Come on out and bring your furry friends along! You can sign your doggies up for fun events and all of the proceeds go towards The Gabriel Institute's research on developing treatments for Osteosarcoma.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Red NCK Debutante Shop

The latest news for all of our potential debutantes is that we are attempting to create a product line! The link on this page is to our Etsy shop and we are working on adding lots more to it!
As we all know everything has to start small so as we begin to expand our horizons we are constantly exposed to the latest and greatest trends. We are hoping to take original art and recreate something fabulous!
The "starving artist" has finally found a trendy way to share her beloved work. Bianca has been traveling to various shows to see what today's artists are up to.

I must admit, social networking is a major key in this process. We have so much to learn and we are hungry for opportunities and advice. I need more juicy gossip to blog about and I promise the information will begin to flow as I am exposed to more of the latest and greatest trends.

My favorite project is our "To The Dogs" line. Of course there are so many animal lovers out there and we would like to tell you:
"love your pets and keep them close to your heart!
Check out the line of our canine characters and see if we have your beloved pooch. New breeds are in the process of being added so keep checking our site as we update!"
Our artist is working to create a character line of pampered pooches and she is also hoping to expand the line to include pooches who are up for adoption and in need of  "forever homes".
Ok off to do more research...x

Happy Bunny!

Yes, it is officially almost summer! However, until we transition into those vibrant summer tones, we must first resist the frenzy of pastels. Don't get me wrong, the soft pretty hues that adorn the windows accompanied by the fluffy chicks and bunnies are very tempting. Keep in mind that there is only one time of year that one adorable cotton candy pink suit is acceptable. And yes, it is for spring and spring only. Now that doesn't mean you cannot jazz up the pastel pink cami with a black skirt and some amazing accessories. Pastels are not completely taboo. Pastel overloading along with the bed sheet floral prints is enough to even gag my grandmother.
Moderation is the key. If you can attempt to experiment with creating relationships between patterns and colors you will never have to wear the same outfit twice! Honestly it is as simple as taking a painting class, yes art is a foundation to dressing well ya'll!!
If you haven't heard of it, look up "The color wheel". You can see the basic relationship of colors. You have many different color placements on the wheel and if you learn about the way colors work you can base your wardrobe around it. Yes my dears, this is somewhat of a simple science.
Complimentary colors are very effective together. You create a relationship between two opposites that demands attention. Basically  compliments are across from one another on the color wheel.
Think about it this way... Christmas. The colors red and green are compliments. They have a relationship that is very basic just like black and white. The truth of the matter is that when you see these colors together they "vibrate" and excite your brain. How exciting it is to walk into a fully decorated home that is adorned in every corner by red and green? Yes, it is overwhelming but the colors celebrate one another.
So lets compare color combinations that we are exposed to on a daily basis. The colors do not have to be only green and reds, they could be purples and golds, blues and oranges or other relationships that you can compare by the placements on the color wheel. Color mixes that you enjoy can be defined by you. If you research your favorite colors and what colors are next to them and across from them you may find that the things that you combine on your own do not work well simply because of their color placements.
This may also guide you on your shopping trips to be brave and try new colors because they do have a relationship with your favorite colors. Patterns may be a little more of a challenge, so lets take basic steps and focus on the solid tones initially. Why do you like or dislike a color? Observe your color wheel, where are the placements of your colors? What colors are next to the color and across from it? You may be surprised to see how some tones are not favorable to you until they are combined with another color. Maybe try printing a color wheel out to accompany you when you shop.
Try this experiment, the next time you are flipping through the channels pay attention to the sports teams and the colors they have on their uniforms. True, the sports teams are the vibrant colors. This is a good exercise, compare the colors to the color wheel and see where the placements are. You will notice that some combinations work better than others.
Now take a moment to look at the fans and all of the colors that they are wearing. You will notice more muted tones on some of the clothing and how the "gradient" hues still work together. A gradient hue is taking the pure color and mixing it with either black or white. The tone appears softer, darker or even muted. This is a good way to have a better understanding of how color tones can still be complimentary but not in "loud" hues. The tone of the color still has the pure base and therefore still works with its opposite or compliment.
Take a walk through your favorite store and let your eyes draw you to the area that most attracts you. I can tell you that a specific color will be involved. Pay attention to the color relationships that the store has coordinated with the items. Observation is a big contributor to better understanding color coordination's basics and what is most attractive to you.
Now, go out and have fun observing all of those beautifully painted eggs and candy. Do you appreciate the colors more now? I know I do!

   Color is totally fabulous!
